Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association
Do you know someone with disabilities who would like to go out and have some fun and make friends? Since 1976, NISRA has provided recreation programs for people with disabilities. Socializing, building physical skills, learning, relaxation, and fun are some of the benefits gained from participating in NISRA’s year round programs. Sports, fitness, social, cultural, outdoor, and preschool programs, along with camps, special events, and trips offer enjoyment for children, teens, and adults of all ability levels. NISRA also offers local year round Special Olympics training and competition in 17 sports.
The Marengo Park District along with 11 other recreation departments and park districts form NISRA. Programs are provided in community facilities throughout the area.
NISRA staff also assist the Marengo Park District staff with including residents with disabilities in park district programs. Call NISRA at (815) 459-0737 with questions about inclusion, or contact the park district to register for a program.
Ask for a NISRA brochure at the park office, call (815) 459-0737, or visit NISRA’s website at www.nisra.org for more information.
