Frequently Asked Questions?

Question:

What does Min/Max mean?

Answer:

For each program offered, there are a minimum number of registrants needed before a class can go forward.

Meeting the minimum and not exceeding the maximum helps to ensure cost effective, positive recreation opportunities for everyone.

Please register early before the deadline, so classes are not cancelled.

Question:

What are Residents?

Answer:

You are a Park District resident if you live within Marengo city limits.

Question:

What are Non-Residents?

Answer:

You are a Park District non-resident if you live outside the Marengo city limits.

Question:

Why are non-resident rates more expensive then resident rates?

Answer:

If you live outside the city, you do not pay taxes to support the Park District.

Therefore, you pay your fair share through the increased non-resident fees listed.

Question:

What is non-resident membership?

Answer:

Non-residents can pay up to 50% more than a resident for most programs.

As an alternate option to decrease the fee's non-residents have to pay, non-residents can elect to pay a yearly membership fee.

Question:

How much is the non-resident membership fee?

Answer:

The yearly fee is computed on the net taxable amount of the non-resident home.

This fee will represent the amount the non-resident would pay in taxes to the Park District, as if they were living within the Park taxing boundaries.

Question:

What does the non-resident membership fee allow me to do?

Answer:

Payment of this annual fee will allow non-residents and their immediate family to register for any program at the resident rate for one year.

Question:

How do I apply for non-resident membership?

Answer:

To pay the yearly fee, please bring in a copy of your most recent tax bill for fee computation at the Park office.
